With only a handful of weeks left before Christmas, is your website ready to welcome those Christmas shoppers who are already searching online for the perfect present this year? Whilst many ecommerce stores have their Christmas campaigns well under way, if your answer is no it’s still not too late to boost your sales this Christmas.
Forget the 12 days of Christmas, take a look at these 12 things you can still do to increase your sales this Christmas.
1. Get festive with your website
Make sure your customers know you are ready for Christmas when they land on your site and add some Christmas cheer to your pages. Add some festive images and entice your visitors to spend.
2. Promote best sellers
Get your top selling Christmas products on the home page, optimised and make it easy for visitors to find them.
3. Christmas PPC
Optimise your PPC campaigns for Christmas, check your analytics from last year and see what worked well. Then add your Christmas themed ads or tweak your existing ad text to incorporate Christmas if appropriate. Take a look at budgets to ensure you do not miss out on ad impressions.
4. Tweak title tags and descriptions
If you have products that sell all year and don’t want to add Christmas specific pages, then tweaking the title tags and content could be the answer. Although make a note to revert back after Christmas, or get ahead and get ready to change them for the January sales!
5. Christmas offers
You can maximise conversions by giving away a little something extra, this could be a discount code, a free gift, gift vouchers or a promotional code – well it is Christmas!
6. Add a ‘Christmas’ tab to your navigation
If you are able to customise your navigation, take advantage and give your visitors some inspiration. By optimising some unique pages especially for the Christmas period you can increase sales and help customers find the ideal gift.
7. Offer a gift wrapping service
This offers a time saving to customers as well which many people will appreciate. An alternative is to offer a free gift bag so customers can check the product before giving it as a gift.
8. Write blogs with Christmas in mind
You can write a Christmas product review, highlight the benefits of buying online at Christmas, Christmas gift ideas for Dad etc.
9. Free Christmas delivery
By offering free delivery you could improve your conversions and if it is just for Christmas customers will think they are getting something for nothing!
10. Shout about Christmas through social media
Remember to promote all your Christmas offerings through the social media networks that you use.
11. Email marketing
Don’t forget to include your Christmas offers and products in your newsletter or email marketing, but be quick.
12. Offer an extended returns period
This can encourage visitors to buy earlier if the return period is extended until 31 January for example. It is also a good idea to ensure your returns policy is clear and easily accessible to avoid any future headaches.
….and as it’s Christmas here’s one more….make sure you don’t lose any customers who may have a question and want to speak to someone about a product or want to order over the telephone. Having your telephone number and opening hours in a prominent position on your site can really make a difference.
